About HKU

Founded in 1911, the University of Hong Kong is one of Asia's most international universities and conducts virtually all of its teaching in English. Its hillside Pokfulam campus sits above Hong Kong's central business district, and the institution has long served as a bridge between Chinese, Commonwealth, and global academic traditions. HKU now ranks first in Asia on the QS World University Rankings, with particular strengths in medicine, law, business, and dentistry. Roughly a third of undergraduates come from outside Hong Kong, with non-local share rising substantially at the postgraduate level.
