Its Core curriculum requires roughly a third of undergraduate coursework in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, framed by the Socratic small-class discussions UChicago helped pioneer. The university claims more than a hundred Nobel laureates and is the birthplace of the Chicago school of economics.
